Buying Fantasy Swords and Weapons – What to Look For
Fantasy weapons, and particularly fantasy swords, are offered in a broad variety of styles including Highlander, Lord of the Rings, Samurai, Dragon and Final Fantasy swords. If you are looking for a fantasy sword you need to be aware of how you will be using the sword and what to look out for. There is a significant disparity in fantasy weapons made for simply decorative use and those made to be functional or ‘battle ready’. The
3 Reasons To Buy Dark Fantasy Swords
Why in the world would someone want a dark fantasy sword instead of a traditional samurai sword or European sword?
There are many ways to answer this question, but I will attempt to answer it myself with one word:
IMAGINATION.
If you say the word “samurai sword” in your mind, a picture might show up of a traditional Japanese sword with a nicely wrapped handle and beautifully curved blade.
On the contrary, dark fantasy swords are not limited by traditional standards or manufacturing techniques. This is important because much of the design is left up to the creativity of the individual sword designer.
With so many swords for sale today, it is hard to think of a more unique or impressive looking style than dark fantasy swords. But what aspect of dark fantasy swords is most impressive? Here are some traits that I find to be the best:
1. The pommel. While the pommels on most swords today are fairly predictable in their design and function, dark fantasy swords have wild and crazy pommels.
These pommels not only look appealing to the eye, but they can come in handy as a secondary weapon!
2. Dark fantasy swords do not usually follow a particular blade design. The blades on these types of swords tend to be outrageous and attention grabbing for almost anyone.
3. You probably think of the sword’s guard as a protection for your hands against an attack. Dark fantasy swords often have hand guards that not only protect you, but also are sharp and pointy to use as an especially effective weapon.
Most people tell me that their dark fantasy swords are perfect for display or live cutting tests. If you plan to use your sword for live action, I recommend testing the overall strength and construction BEFORE doing so.
CAUTION! Performing live tests with a poorly made dark fantasy sword can be very dangerous or even deadly, so do this very carefully.
